When is the festival?

The festival is on May 2. The canoe/kayak tour will take place from 10am to 12pm, while the music and other festivities will take place from 12pm to 2pm.

Where is the festival?

The festival is at Groff Park in South Amherst on Mill Ln. off of 116.

What should I wear?

If you are attending the canoe/kayak tour, prepare to get wet and dirty! Wear appropriate shoes and clothes.

How do I get to Groff Park?

You can drive, canoe, kayak, or take the bus to Groff Park.
If you choose to canoe or kayak to the festival, we will guide you along the Fort River from Kiwanis Park to Groff park.
If you’re driving, Groff Park is just off of Mill Lane in Amherst. You can get to Mill Lane off of South Pleasant St. or Rt. 116. You can click on the link below and enter your own address for more detailed instructions.
If you’d like to take public transportation, buses 32 and 38 drop you off close to the park entrance.

Can I bring my own canoe or kayak?

Yes!

Where can I park?

There is parking available at Groff Park. If you are borrowing a canoe or kayak, it is best to park there first and take the shuttle to Kiwanis Park. If you are bringing your own canoe or kayak, there is parking available at Kiwanis Park. The shuttle will then be able to take you back upon arriving at Groff Park. Alternatively, you could arrive at Kiwanis Park early, drop off your canoe or kayak, park at Groff, and take the shuttle to Kiwanis.

Is there an entrance fee?

No!

Will food be provided?

Some complimentary drinks and light refreshments will be provided. However, we encourage you to bring your own picnic lunch!

Can I bring my own food?

Please do!

Is the event family friendly?

Yes, very!

Is there a fee for the canoe/kayak river tour?

No, but we suggest a donation of $20 to cover festival costs. Of course, even if you don’t donate,  it is a free event and all are welcome to join!

What if it rains?

Actually, the weather is looking pretty good! 80 degrees and sunny! We’re going to hope that this question is irrelevant (crosses fingers).

What is the Rushing Rivers Institute?

We’re a clearing house for river science. We do river research, conservation, restoration, and consultation! Check us out at www.rushingrivers.org.

Where can I donate?

You can donate at the festival, or at our website.

Where do the donations go to?

The donations go toward covering the cost of the festival and funding future projects for researching and protecting our rivers!

How can I volunteer?
